Blake’s Box is a life-changing nonprofit organization bringing care packages to at risk children and families in need.
Children need nothing more than a laugh, smile, and to know they are valued by people the around them. Two-thirds of children experience at least one traumatic event by the age of 16. 31% will be exposed to one event. 37% to multiple events. In times of trauma and life-changing events, children and their families need support. In reaching the children, we strive to reach the family. The connection we can provide through supporting children’s well-being can change the lives of their families struggling as well.
Specifically, Blake’s Box supports two traumatic circumstances for children in the Pennsylvania area; both of which Blake experienced; being in the foster care system and being diagnosed with cancer.
Blake always desired to make a difference in the world, to make an imprint. To those who knew him, he did just that. From his years in foster care, to long hospital stays suffering from ALPS, and in his final 7 weeks as he battled Stage 4 Burkitt Lymphoma like a heroic warrior; Blake changed the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on through Blake’s Box. In fact, following his passing he was able to donate over 300 care packages to children in need through the donations received in lieu of flowers. The start of what would be later and now known as Blake’s Box.
We are not defined by Blake's death, but we are marked by it here on earth. The pain, visible or not, is with us every step we take, every minute of every day. We will miss and love Blake until our very last breath.
And in our brokenness, our temporary suffering, may we still bring God glory. Praying that you will join us!
